1. Singapore Writer’s Festival

This yearly event brings together a mix of international literary talent as well as homegrown and regional creatives, with highly intriguing panel discussions, workshops, lectures and performances held over 10 days. This year’s showcase includes satirist, comedian and author David Sedaris and Man Booker Prize winner Kiran Desai.

2. Deepavali Festival Village

3. The Conscious Festival by Green is the New Black

This year’s Conscious Festival proudly returns as a carbon neutral and zero waste event. Forming a collective of green speakers, social entrepreneurs, and brands, the festival will focus on topics spanning from conscious living, sustainability and innovation, and the potential of the unexplored. Visit the Mindful Market for conscious goods and foods that are friendly to the environment, your wallet, and your belly. Entry is free, donations optional.

4. Lunchtime Concerts at ACM

Fancy a side of jazz music with your lunch by the water? The Asian Civilisations Museums presents the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music for select Fridays in November. Enjoy intimate recitals featuring String & Piano Chamber, Cantiamo, and Jazz at the museum, but not enjoying a modern Chinese dining experience at Empress or one of the museum’s other eateries.

6. Neon Lights Festival

Neon Lights Festival returns to Singapore this year with three days and six stages of music and art. This year’s event sees an impressive lineup with performances by international artists YUNA and Interpol. Between musical acts, participate in DIY workshops and engage in Live Art performances. Amanda Tan’s (Empyreal) makes use of organic liquids and light to tell a story in her Liquid Galaxies exhibition. A three-day pass is going for $280 (not inclusive of registration fee).

7. Sensorium

Celebrate urban wellness at Sensorium, a polysensorial festival that focuses on stimulating the five senses – sight, sound, taste, smell and touch – through innovative and engaging workshops, exhibitions and tastings. Create your own fragrance at the Oo La Lab Workshop, then heighten your sense of touch inside The Tickle Room, which uses feathers to stimulate. End the journey by jamming to a live performance by Bottlesmoker, an electro-pop duo hailing from Indonesia. Entry is free.

8. Affordable Art Fair

The Affordable Art Fair has been democratising artwork since its inception by Will Ramsay in 1999. Find thousands of paintings, photography, prints, and sculpture created by both household names and emerging artists all priced between S$100 to S$15,000. With 75% of works priced below S$7500 and over 600 artists featured, both seasoned and novel collectors alike will be able to find a piece that resonates. A three-day ticket goes for $18.

9. Singapore International Film Festival

It’s showtime for the Singapore international Film Festival. The 29th edition of SGIFF spans over eleven days, providing upcoming filmmakers in Asia to showcase their stories. Film-buffs are given an intimate look into the industry, with masterclasses, talks, and post-show discussions with filmmakers and members of the cast offered throughout the event. Over 100 films from 44 countries are to be screened. Tickets for the opening film costs $25; Special Presentation, $15; all other films, $12.

10. Romeo & Juliet presented by Russian State Ballet of Siberia

Set in Renaissance Verona, Shakespeare’s famed tale of teenage love comes to life in Singapore for a limited three-day run. Set to Prokofiev’s score, the highly anticipated ballet performance comes with the promise of tender love and tragedy. Tickets start at $55.
