9 August is coming up very soon, which means its time for one of the most exciting events of the year here in Singapore – the National Day Parade! As you may know, this year’s NDP is going to be held at Padang instead of the Floating Platform.
Just like every other year, tickets are hard to get and not certainly not cheap. But don’t worry – we’ve got you sorted. Usually, the highlight of the NDP is the fireworks at the end. Want to know where you can watch this spectacular show ABSOLUTELY FREE with your own eyes? Read on to find out!
1. Bay East Garden @ Gardens by the Bay
Everyone goes to Gardens by the Bay for the domes and the Supertrees, but its more than that. Bay East Garden, a large green space open to the public, is less well-known, which makes it the perfect location to catch the NDP fireworks. You won’t have to worry about the crowd here!
11 Rhu Cross, Singapore 437440
2. Stadium Waterfront
Located right beside Kallang Wave Mall at Singapore Sports Hub, Stadium Waterfront is a gorgeous place to be – even when there are no fireworks. Catch the city skyline reflecting off the surface of Kallang Basin during the sunset, then enjoy the fireworks at night. There isn’t that much of a crowd here either.

3. Esplanade Roof Terrace
We’re all familiar with The Esplanade, but did you know its roof terrace is one of the best places to watch the NDP fireworks? Being up there offers a spectacular view of the skyscrapers across the river. If you arrive early, you can always dine at one of the many restaurants near the area.
8 Raffles Avenue, Singapore 039802
4. Marina Bay Waterfront Promenade
Here is where you’ll find a close-up of the fireworks. You might have to squeeze, but I assure you that the view is totally worth it. Besides, you can even use The Esplanade itself as a backdrop for your insta-worthy pictures!

5. Merlion Park
Singapore’s most iconic attraction also happens to be a great place to watch the NDP fireworks. With Marina Bay Sands in the background and Singapore River in front of you, there is perhaps no better representation of our country, which is fitting for a National Day celebration.

6. The Lawn @ Marina Bay
You’ll notice that most of the locations on this list are centred around the same area (i.e. Marina Bay). So, it is bound to be pretty crowded if you want to find the best viewing spots. But here’s a secret – The Lawn @ Marina Bay is a large patch of grass where you can avoid the majority of the crowd and enjoy the pleasant view at the same time!
8A Marina Blvd, Singapore 018984
7. Marina Barrage
You may not think of Marina Barrage as the ideal place to watch fireworks. To be fair, it is some distance away from the fireworks itself and you may find your view slightly obstructed. However, you’ll still be able to watch most of the fireworks away from the crowd while relaxing on the grass, if that’s what you’re looking for.
8 Marina Gardens Dr, Singapore 018951
8. Helix Bridge
Helix Bridge is probably the closest to where all the action is at as compared to everywhere else on this list. You also have easy access to nearby shops and restaurants in Marina Bay Sands to pass the time if you arrive early, but be sure to have someone save your spot as it can get crowded at night.

9. Faber Peak
Our last location is far, far away from all the action. But as its name implies, Faber Peak is a tall mountain that guarantees you’ll be able to see the fireworks regardless. And of course, be away from the crowd at the same time.
109 Mount Faber Rd, Singapore 099203
