Ariana Grande certainly wasn’t referring to Singapore when she performed her hit single “problem”, but the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) did have 99 problems this past week, and EVERY single one of them is a drug offender. That’s right, a total of NINETY NINE drug offenders, along with drugs worth more than $52,000 were seized in the five-day island wide operation this week by the Central Narcotics Bureau, the police and the Heath Sciences Authority.
The operation was carried out from Sunday (Jan
21) and covered areas like Ang Mo Kio, Balestier, Clementi, Geylang, Toa Payoh
and Woodlands. The drugs seized include about 570g of cannabis, 268g of “ice” or methamphetamine, 46g of heroin, 30g of ketamine, 62 “ecstasy” tablets, 56 Erimin-5 tablets, 12 “yaba” tablets, some methadone and GHB (gamma-hydroxybutyrate). One of the small packets of “ice” was cleverly packaged such that it looks like a chocolate snack.
to swiftly mete out justice, or the cost of living won’t be the only thing high
in Singapore this weekend!
