Journey to the…?
We started off our journey at Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal and then departed for Bandar Bentan Telani. The ferry ride only took a short 45-minutes! Once we arrived, we then took the complimentary 15-minute shuttle bus ride towards our resort.
The main lobby was an open area and you can distinctly hear the buzzing from the forest. Although we knew that the villas were built with a Balinese fishing village in mind, we were still pleasantly surprised to see that the villas and the lobby alike had thatched roofs.
The hospitality shown by Banyan Tree was superb! This is evident when the reception staff personally explained the directions to our villa.
A Wave of Fun
As we arrived early (the check-out time is at 3 pm btw), we had to kill some time. It was early afternoon when we got to the private beach, which meant that it was bloody hot.
The beach was relatively clean but we didn’t go into the waters. Instead, we kicked off our shoes and took a stroll across the (almost empty) beach towards the neighbouring Angsana Bintan and Cassia Bintan to take a look. The latter was quite lively when we passed by and they were having some sort of foam party at their pool.

Both of the sister resorts were more like apartment-style buildings, a far cry from Banyan Tree. Our villas back at Banyan Tree were much more secluded so you’ll be guaranteed to have all the privacy that you need! *wink wink*
For our stay, we booked the ‘Oceanview Infinity Pool Villa (One Bedroom)’.
Once it was time to check-in, we scrambled to our rooms with high expectations. As we stepped into the room, we were greeted with the smell of essential oil, a smell that was that calmed our senses significantly. Wow! Banyan Tree Resort pays attention even to the smallest of details.
There was even a mosquito net that has been draped across our four-poster bed. We certainly didn’t want to wake up with multiple love bites from these pesky bloodsuckers ew.

Infinity Pool all to Ourselves
Infinity Pool? Sea View? Your villa has it all!
Overall, the perfect blend of luxury living and traditional Balinese architecture definitely took my breath away! It is unlike any other resorts that we’ve been to in Bintan.
Did Someone Say… Relaxation?
There’s nothing better than getting an award-winning massage treatment with a gorgeous oceanfront view. In fact, Banyan Tree Spa is a perfect haven to soothe your aching body.
Fun fact: Did you know that there are Banyan Tree Spa Academies for therapists to undergo training? Yup, you heard me.
Dinner… On the Sea!
After our massage, we proceeded to their Kelong Destination Dining, which is an offshore wooden platform in the middle of the sea. We got there by boat and lucky for us, we got to catch the last light of the day as well!
The meal came with exquisite locally sourced fresh seafood, and amazing service by the personal chef and waiter!
Dining in the middle of the sea never occurred to me as a must-do in my lifetime, but I’m glad that I had experienced it first hand. The feeling of being stranded on an island. The adrenaline rush whenever the platform swayed with the waves. All these experiences are to die for.
Dinner was a feast, fit for a king if you ask me.
We tried their signature sea snails, black pepper mud crabs and their stir-fried butter prawns, all of which were unique and suited our taste buds perfectly.
Once our tummies were satisfied, we turned in for the night, listening to the lull of the ocean until we fell asleep.
First Meal of the Day
For breakfast, we had a wide buffet breakfast spread at Treetops. I mean, look at our table!
You would’ve thought that we would have opted for a seat indoors but nope, we did otherwise. The outdoor dining area boasts a spectacular view of the sea and the rising sun.
Tip: Just keep a lookout for your food! The monkeys are coming for you. You have been warned.
This restaurant also offers lunch and dinner, both of which are served with an authentic Indonesian Cuisine.
Before heading back to Singapore, we decided to make the most out of our trip to Bintan and we embarked on a bike tour.
Accompanied by our friendly local guide, we explored the surrounding area on our two wheels. Along the way, he pointed out several places and entertained us with one or two interesting facts about that place. Personally, I felt that the bike tour wasn’t very eventful but it was enjoyable nonetheless.
And this concludes the end of our short weekend getaway to Bintan.
Banyan Tree truly delivered an exceptional quality of hospitality. From the pick-up to the check-out, everything was handled so smoothly. Still thinking about where to go this weekend? Duh, you already know the answer.
Hey, don’t complain about the price, you get what you paid for!
Pssst… Another plus of staying at Banyan Tree was that they provided buggy services that are perfect for the lazy bums like me HAHA.
For my stay, I booked my trip via WeekendGoWhere, and I must admit that they were really prompt in replies! Thanks for doing the planning the trip for me and also ensuring that we enjoyed ourselves! I will be back again 🙂
