It is finally the holidays!! After a long and tiring semester at school, I was dying to go for a vacation. The hours of camping at the library mugging my life away has turned me into a ghastly vampire and a beach holiday is what is need to get back a healthy tan.
Originally, Google suggested that I went to Maldives.
I’m not gonna lie, Maldives sounds AMAZING. Known for its beaches, blue lagoons and extensive reefs, it is the perfect holiday destination.

However, not many of us (especially poor broke students like me) can easily fork out $800-$1000 for a 4D3N beach holiday without having to starve for the next year and a half.
If you can afford it however, do check out some super value packages here!
For the poor students craving a getaway, Bintan is your next best bet. There were so many different beach resorts at Bintan I was lost for choice, but eventually decided to book my stay at Cassia Bintan, which turned out to be the BEST decision!

Introduction to Cassia
Cassia Bintan is the newest addition to the exclusive Laguna Bintan Integrated Resort, the developer of Banyan Tree as well as Angsana Resort. I’ve heard pretty good reviews of the 2 resorts, and figured that Cassia Bintan shouldn’t be too far off.
Plus, it was one of the cheapest package I’ve found on WeekendGoWhere starting from only $147/pax. Pretty reasonable in my opinion for the amazing amenities they provide, which I will be sharing below!
I fell in love with Cassia the moment I stepped into their property due to its bright and colourful design, which gives off a youthful and playful vibe.
The Meeting Place
I would jump straight into the room review but I feel obligated to talk about the lobby first simply because it is such a cosy place!
Also referred to as The Meeting Place, the lobby has brightly coloured chairs as well as a games such as darts and a foosball table.
It is also a super insta worthy place because of its neon-coloured, graffiti-style wall art.
Now for the room review! I LOVED how the walls are boldly coloured instead of the boring cream white or wood style that most other resorts opt to go for.
The sofa bed was decorated with pillows of the same colour scheme.
There is even a balcony!
There were a few options for room accommodation from 1 or 2 bedrooms, as well as garden or sea view. As I was going on the trip with 2 of my friends, we opted for the 1 Bedroom Apartment Loft which can accommodate up to 4 people.
There were a few reasons why we chose the loft apartment:
1. Seriously, who rejects a loft?! Especially one that comes with beanbags! The loft was easily one of my favourite places!
2. BBQ can only be done in loft type apartments, and all my friends and I decided that food is something we cannot forgo on the trip. The BBQ pit rental costs about 15 SGD. Our BBQ dinner was a hassle free experience because the friendly staff helped us set up everything. The rental also came with tongs and charcoal!
Trust me when I say that I would gladly just snooze in the room all day with my friends.
Unlike most other resorts, Cassia does not have restaurants within its own vicinity. Fret not though, it does not mean that you’ll have to go hungry. There is still breakfast available in the morning as the lobby transforms into a dining area with buffet style dining. (and because we booked with WeekendGoWhere our breakfast was complimentary! Talk about good deals~)
As mentioned earlier, we knew we were going to have a BBQ dinner so our original plan was to have a cheap and simple instant maggie lunch. However, we chanced upon the option of a DIY Mookata in our rooms and we decided to ditch our original plan.
Our mookata meal was SO SATISFYING!
We bought our ingredients (for both the BBQ and Mookata) from Market 23, a small convenient store located at the resort lobby.
We also decided to treat ourselves to a some radler beer also sold at Market 23.
Cassia has its own infinity pool with the private beach as its backdrop.
The infinity pool seemed a lot larger in the photos than in real life which was a minor downer for me, but it was still pretty much functional so no complains!
Plus, you could get amazing photos in the day if you’re blessed with good lighting!
Based on my research, there were many activities such as water sports, spas, golf, excursion tours and more available in Cassia but me being my lazy bum really just wanted to chill and laze.
I’ve linked more information about the available activities here.
The only activity that I’ve done was the complimentary yoga session at the Sentai Deck. (yeap its free!!) The gorgeous sunrise view, as well as the peace and tranquility was something I would miss when I go back home.
All in all I REALLY enjoyed my stay at the Cassia. It was homely, cosy and all the staff were all super friendly. Food was great and there were many activities for you to participate in.
Overall wallet damage? The package I bought under WeekendGoWhere was $152 / pax that includes breakfast + 2 way ferry & land transfers. I spent an additional $45 for both my mookata lunch and BBQ dinner so that sums up to approximately $200 for a 2D1N trip, which I personally thought was SUPER worth!!
You probably can only get some small and cramped chalet with mediocre accommodations and services with the same amount of money in Singapore. I would DEFINITELY recommend Cassia to anyone who is looking for an affordable trip to Bintan~
