Bintan Resorts divert attention to domestic market for growth, still an IDEAL destination for a getaway

Slightly over 10 years ago, no one would have expected Bintan to have developed as it has today.

The 2,400 sq. km island hosts several beach resorts with world-class facilities under the banner of Bintan Resorts.


In light of the influx of local guests in recent years, Donny Tan, manager marketing, Bintan Resorts International, said: “We realised that Indonesians enjoy beach resorts now. Ten years ago, we did not see Indonesians travelling to places like Raja Ampat or Belitung. Now, they go to these places. We have a big market here at home, so why not tap into it?”


Bintan Resorts, which in its early development years depended on Singaporean guests for its economic growth, is now expanding its beach destinations and capacity to cater to larger family and corporate groups from Indonesia’s domestic market.


Tan believes that the island has more to offer to the domestic market than what they have been credited for, notably with latest developments such as the Crystal Lagoon- the biggest recreational seawater body in South-east Asia.


Guests are spoilt for choice as the many resorts on the island each have a thematic style and offer facilities and activities unique to them.
