COVID-19 Daily Update 2020-03-27: 52 New Confirmed Cases, Total 683 in SG Now

As of 27 March 2020, 10am, there are 683 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Singapore. On 25 March 2020, there were 52 new confirmed cases.

Of the 73 new cases, 28 are imported cases. (Cases 633, 634, 635, 636, 639, 640, 641, 642, 646, 647, 648, 649, 650, 651, 653, 654, 656, 663, 664, 665, 667, 669, 671, 672, 673, 674, 680 and 683) with travel history to Europe, North America, the Middle East, ASEAN countries, and other parts of Asia.

Of the remaining 24, 10 are linked cases (Case 632 was in contact with Case 644; Case 638 is part of the PCF Fengshan cluster; Case 644 was in contact with Case 632; Case 645 was in contact with Cases 528, 675 and 676; Case 660 is part of the PCF Fengshan cluster; Case 662 is part of the Dover Court International School cluster; Case 668 was in contact with Case 600; Case 675 was in contact with Cases 528, 645 and 676; Case 676 was in contact with Case 528, 645 and 675; Case 681 was in contact with Case 477).

14 are currently unlinked (Cases 637, 643, 652, 655, 657, 658, 659, 661, 666, 670, 677, 678, 679 and 682).

On Thursday (26 Mar), Heng Swee Keat announces a Resilience Budget to save jobs and support firms

  • Stimulus package is made in view of the new COVID-19 situation
  • The government is dipping into past reserves to fund an additional S$48 billion worth of measures
  • This is the second time in history (first time being during the global financial crisis in 2009) that past reserves is drawn
  • Measures include cash handouts, tax rebates and support for businesses
  • Industries that have been badly hit by the COVID-19 crisis, especially aviation and tourism, will get more support

False rumours about COVID-19 in Singapore

  • There are rumours that Singapore will declare Dorscon red, that the government will go into a lockdown, and that MRT and bus services will be scaled back.
