COVID-19 Daily Update 2020-04-02: 1 New Confirmed Death, 74 New Confirmed Cases, Total 1000 in SG Now

As of 02 April 2020, 10am, there are 1000 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Singapore. On 1st April 2020, there were 74 new confirmed cases.

Of the 74 new cases, 20 are imported cases (Cases 928, 932, 933, 938, 943, 944, 949, 950, 952, 954, 955, 960, 961, 962, 968, 969, 970, 995, 996 and 997) with travel history to  Australia, Europe, South America, Africa, ASEAN and other parts of Asia.

Of the remaining 54, 29 are linked cases. [Cases 973, 976, 983, 984, 985, 986, 987, 988, 989 and 990 are linked to Case 918, forming a new cluster at Lee Ah Mooi Old Age Home (1 Thomson Lane); Cases 972 and 974 are linked to Case 868, forming a new cluster at a dormitory located at 55 Sungei Kadut Loop; Cases 946, 947, 966, 979, 982 and 993 are linked to the cluster at S11 Dormitory @ Punggol (2 Seletar North Link); Cases 934 and 977 are linked to the cluster at Westlite Toh Guan dormitory (18 Toh Guan Road East); Case 980 is linked to the cluster at Wilby Residences (25 Wilby Road); Cases 940 is linked to to the cluster at Hero’s (69 Circular Road).]

The remaining 25 are currently unlinked cases. (Cases 929, 930, 931, 936, 937, 939, 945, 948, 951, 953, 956, 957, 958, 959, 963, 964, 965, 967, 971, 978, 981, 994, 998, 999 and 1000) Contact tracing is ongoing.

2 new clusters in Singapore

  1. Lee Ah Mooi Old Age Home at 1 Thomson Lane (Cases 918, 973, 976, 983, 984, 985, 986, 987, 988, 989 and 990)
  2. Workers’ dormitory located at 55 Sungei Kadut Loop. (Cases 868, 972 and 974)

Singapore confirms 4th death from COVID-19

  • The patient was a 68-year-old Indonesian man
  • He was a work pass holder
  • The patient died from complications due to the disease at 6.43am on 2nd of April 2020
  • The patient had a history of diabetes and hypertension
  • He was in Indonesia from Jan 20 to Mar 16.
  • He was confirmed to have COVID-19 on 22nd March 2020 and was warded in the intensive care unit from Mar 26
  • The NCID has reached out to the patient’s family and is extending assistance to them

Visitors barred from nursing homes until Apr 30

  • MOH has issued an advisory barring all visitors until 30 April
  • Safe distancing will be mandated within residents of all nursing homes
  • Staff members are required to stay away from work if they are not feeling well
  • Currently, there are 10 cases linked to Lee Ah Mooi Old Age Home
