The annual Geylang Serai Ramadan Bazaar is BACK with promises to deliver a more culturally appropriate bazaar! Here’s why you should check out the bazaar this weekend and indulge in the festive spirit ahead of Hari Raya!
Going Back To Its Roots
The bazaar has garnered mixed reviews over the past few years over the loss of it’s true “kampung spirit” and purpose. The organizers have worked hard on this and will prioritize the needs of the Muslim community this time round!
With 60% of food tenants offering traditional Malay food and requirements for all food to be suitable* for Muslim visitors we can’t wait to immerse in the nostalgic festive vibes of the bazaar!
*suitable terms: Muslim-owned/ certified halal by MUIS/ fulfil the halal criteria set by the event organisers.
Lower Costs, Cheaper Food
Rental costs have been capped and lesser stalls will be at this year’s bazaar as compared to last year. This could possibly mean cheaper food and an overall more pleasant experience! Furthermore, approximately 80% of non-dining stalls will be selling traditional festive items that are absolutely perfect for the season!
Perfectly balanced – as all things should be
It’s all about that balance between “nostalgic” and “hipster” this year! We can’t wait to see a fusion of good ol’ Malay food with a modern twist – all without forgetting the purpose behind the bazaar. And with the Ramadan fast approaching this weekend, we recommend you head down to the Bazaar early to avoid the crowds and bask in the festive season!
