A pinhole camera was found in a handicapped toilet in Nanyang Technological university (NTU).
The camera was found sticking to the door of the cubicle, disguised as a plastic hook to hang a fragrance pack.
The police said that they received “a call for assistance on a case of insulting the modesty of women in Nanyang Drive” at 5.03pm on Thursday, 2 Mar 2018.
The camera was found by a woman who suspected the installation was a pinhole camera.
She rushed to the cleaner man who then found the hidden camera with an SD card inside.
A spokesman for NTU said that “a suspected pinhole camera was found inside a handicapped toilet at basement 1 of the Humanities & Social Sciences building on Thursday afternoon”.
“The police were called and the device was immediately removed and taken away as part of police investigations,” he added.
There have been many cases similar to this happening in the past few months, many suspects were caught and charges.
The woman who spotted the device first suspected it when she saw that the hook was in a relatively low position.
The hook was also positioned on the same level as the toilet bowl, followed by the unnecessary big size of it, made her seek help from the cleaner.
A student in NTU commented that “The handicapped toilet is used pretty frequently by the girls, because there are only four stalls in the ladies’ toilet, so I guess we are all rather worried at the moment,”.
Police are still investigating the matter.
