Annual IT SHOW 2018
The annual IT show started on Thursday ( 15 March ) and have ended on Sunday ( 18 March ).
The Largest Tech show in Singapore was located in Suntec Singapore, over 3 different levels. Visitors to this IT Show 2018 were able to handpick from a wide range of the latest electronic gadgets, with over 600 participating exhibitors.
This free-admission show is organised by Ehibits Inc, a subsidiary of Singapore Press Holdings.
Did you actually miss out on anything at the physical IT show?
Over the weekends, the e-commerce giants such as Lazada and Shoppe were also having their very own virtual IT show. So, with the e-commerce giants having their very own “IT Show”, what is the actual point of a physical IT show? The e-commerce giants are also offering good IT deals from multiple brands and vendors. By shopping with the e-commerce giants, you get to avoid the crowds. This means shopping for the best deals in the very comfort of your own home.
With no crowds, no sweat, and no squeezing, you will have all your orders delivered directly to your footstep. Most importantly, by adding in the promo codes offered by the e-commerce giants, you might actually save more than you spend.
So in the matter of fact, did you actually save yourself a trip down to Suntec by just turning on your e-commerce apps?
However, despite all these e-commerce giants jumping on the IT Show bandwagon, there is still a 20% increase in the number of visitors this year. Ms June Ng, head of business for the IT sector at Exhibits Inc, said: ” We had a 20 percent increase in total footfall compared to last year.”
While it is now the less convenient option, people still go to the IT show as they want to feel and test the physical product, get additional freebies and additional discounts and get the product immediately without any waiting time which might not have been possible if the purchase was done through the e-commerce apps.
While there seemed to be a lesser point going to a physical IT show as compared to a few years ago, we still wouldn’t say that it’s totally pointless. All in all, it actually depends on what you are looking for when purchasing your latest IT gadget.
