The Jack of almost all trades in relation to film production in Japan has directed a television commercial on the Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL).

In the 30-second animated ad, that follows a female protagonist involved in building the station, features Singapore’s iconic landmarks, whose details are drawn to a near mirror-image perfection.

Makoto Shinkai, who directed the critically acclaimed and one of the highest-grossing animated films Your Name, created the ad for Taisei Corporation, a Japanese firm that was awarded a $425 million contract to construct a station on the TEL, along with its associated tunnels.

The company has been involved in the construction of other train stations in Singapore, including Downtown Line’s Downtown station, Circle Line’s Marymount, Caldecott, Botanic Gardens and Farrer Road stations.

The Marina Bay station on the TEL it will be building, will be an interchange station connecting three rail lines: The TEL, North-South and Circle Lines and is expected to be complete its construction in 2021.
