Malaysian man allegedly received $8,000 to help Chew Eng Han escape Singapore

It is revealed that the Khoo Kea Leng, 45, received S$8,000 from the formal City Harvest Church leader Chew Eng Han, to escape Singapore.

Khoo met Chew in a carpark at Block 75, Marine Drive near East Coast Park.

That is when Chew gave Khoo the S$8,000, and discussed on the plan to escape Singapore, including with the help of the boatman, Tan Poh Teck.

Chew was arrested halfway during his escape to Malaysia on 21 Feb 2018.

Due to his escape, the government is currently in review for a harsher law against attempted escapees during their bail.

Chew was the only one out of the 5 City Harvest Church leader to have not started his sentencing. He persisted his argument with his lawyer and arranged for a bail to delay sentencing.

Khoo will be locked up at Central Police Division for a week of investigation.

If convicted, Khoo will face a jail term of not less than six months and not more than two years, plus a fine of up to S$6,000.
