It seems that sexual harassment in Singapore is more serious an issue than previously expected.
With international movements pushing for transparency for gender issues, women in Singapore are also more comfortable with shedding light on the prevalent issue.
Most recently, a 40-year-old man has been arrested for his suspected involvement in a case of outrage of modesty.
A 41 year-old woman has lodged a police report, alleging that a middle aged man has molested her on the train ride at Woodlands MRT station.
The woman followed her assailant when he alighted, and sought assistance from a bus captain to detain the man,
Police arrived at the scene not long after, and has arrested the man. Investigations are still ongoing.
Anyone convicted of the offence of outrage of modesty faces up to two years’ jail, a fine, caning, or any combination of the three penalties.
