Man and elderly woman RESCUED after falling into flooded canal

While thundery showers continue to occur in several parts of Singapore, a 50-year-old man and a 70-year-old woman fell into a canal near MacPherson Lane amid heavy rain.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) was alerted in a distress call about the two people that had fallen into the canal beside BLK 83, MacPherson Lane.

When the rescue team got to the scene, they lowered a ladder into the flooded canal for the duo to climb out. A lifebuoy was also thrown to the woman to keep her afloat.

Thankfully, they were pulled out of the situation without sustaining any injuries and were taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital while conscious.

It is, however, unclear how the two ended up in the canal as there are waist-level metal railings installed along the canal and how the two are related.
