Neon Lit Pikachu Event
The Pikachu Night Parade takes a trip outside Japan for the first time – and to our shores, quite literally. Sentosa is hosting nine dancing Pikachus, in conjunction with the return of Island Lights, a festival of visual treats and lit installations happening from November 16 to December 31.
The Pikachu Night Parade will take place over two weekends, on 14-16 and 21-23 December. Expect everyone’s favourite Pokemon to be all decked up in glowing neon lights, marching and dancing along Palawan Beach. You’d best be out on the beach at 7.30pm if you want to see Pikachu groove to funky beats. The Palawan Pirate Ship, in the spirit of all things Pokemon, will also be decorated with fan favourites such as Pikachu and Eevee.
Other things at the festival to catch are the ten installations that are as interesting as they are Instagrammable. The infamous ‘Sticker Lady’, Sam Lo, is presenting her piece, Betelgeuse Supernova, a thought-provoking installation that’s more than meets the eye.
Riding on the popularity of ASMR, local artist Yang’s installation (also called ASMR Wonderland) is a multi-sensory interactive representation of pop culture and social media that guests can explore with four out of their five senses – sight, smell, touch and sound.
There will be live performances, light snacks all night, a pirate ship with neon lights and more –it’s time to get art on your feed while you get sand beneath your feet.
