If I was to choose the most essential thing in 2020, masks would definitely be on the top of the list.

Not only does it protect me from the coronavirus, but it also prevents me from getting a $300 fine.

I am sure the government if prioritising mask as well, as from 24 May onwards, Singapore will distribute improved reusable masks to all Singapore residents.

So how will residents be able to collect these masks?

Residents will be able to collect their masks from 24-hour vending machines at all community clubs or from community club and residents’ committee counters.

The vending machine collection will be made available till 14 June while collection at the community club and residents’ committee counters will only be available from 26 May to 1 June.

So how will the new reusable masks be different from the reusable masks we received previously?

According to Minister Chan Chun Sing, the cloth face coverings will have better bacterial filtration capabilities than those from previous distributions.

Additionally, the new masks will have at least 3 layers of material and boast a bacterial filtration efficiency of at least 95% even after 30 washes.

Both adult-sized and child-sized masks will be available, however, only identification documents of children aged 12 years and under may be used to collect child-sized masks.

You will only be able to collect 1 mask per identification card.

The People’s Association also advised to have a family member to collect on behalf of their household to prevent overcrowding at collection points.

Do remember to bring each household member’s identification document though!

Additionally, in case you’re worried that the foreign workers may not have enough masks, you won’t have to worry anymore!
