StarHub Increases Mobile Data Speeds to 1GBPS

1 min read

Rejoice StarHub subscribers! StarHub is raising peak 4G speeds to 1Gbps from its current 400Mbps, as part of keeping its network up with the times.

However, this benefit to surf up to twice as fast as before and a smoother data experience even during peak hours requires users to switch over to a 1Gbps-capable phone model. Some phones with this capability include the Samsung Galaxy S9/S9+, Huawei Mate 10 Pro, P20 and P20 Pro and the new Sony Xperia XZ2.

StarHub’s gigabit network now covers the central business district, key shopping areas such as Orchard Road and Clarke Quay, transport hubs and town centres within the heartlands such as Bishan, Clementi and Tampines, an expanded coverage from when it first launched in Marina Bay.

Furthermore, with this upgrade, the telco will also provide connectivity for the deployment of IoT devices to support Singapore’s Smart Nation drive. Data from these sensors will, in addition, allow enterprises to glean insights that can be used to improve operational efficiency and aid in long-term planning.

In the face of competition, the other telcos- Singtel and M1, are also in the run to extend 1Gbps mobile speeds for users in high-traffic locations.

With these advancements that the telcos are making, us Singaporeans can be expecting a better surfing experience!
