An 18 year-old teenager Red-Mart delivery driver was trapped in the lorry he was driving after it collided with a car at a junction in Ang Mo Kio on Tuesday night (Jan 30) at around 10 p.m.
The accident drew the attention of many passersby who rushed over and tried to render possible assistance to the driver, who was trapped in the lorry that turned over to its side. Said eyewitness Zhong Xide, who was having supper at a nearby coffee shop when the accident happened:
I rushed over to ask if he was hurt, but the young man did not answer and appeared to be drifting in and out of consciousness.
SCDF officers soon arrived at the scene and extricated the man using hydraulic tools. The man was then taken to Tan Tock Seng hospital for treatment.
This once again demonstrates the aptitude of Singaporean offer help to fellow Singaporeans in need.
