Coming to the final quarter of the year, do you fell the pressure to meet the goals you set earlier this year? Can you even remember what goals did you set for yourself in the Year 2018? Well, I set a goal of having to travel at least THRICE this year. What about you? Still persuading yourself to go on holiday? Let me share the Top 5 Asia Travel Destinations for Your Year-End Holidays.
1. Seoul, South Korea
In recent years, South Korea is a hot travel destination for many Singaporeans. Personally, I have travelled to South Korea for 6 times the past two years and my days in Korea were truly memorable and enjoyable, and I can’t wait to make another trip(AGAIN). South Korea has a very rich history and pulsating culture for you to explore.
- wear the traditional Hanbok and walk around Gyeongbokgung
- Visit traditional markets
And most importantly, SHOPPING! (mainly for the ladies)
Also, South Korea has plenty of exciting cities from north to south, like Busan, the second largest city and Jeonju with a rich traditional history featuring a traditional old town with Korean hanok houses which makes it a beautiful destination.
One of the most civilised country I have ever been to. There’s no other place with people so kind, food so delicious and landscape so stunning(Not another country that I know of yet). On a side note, you have to bear in mind that deciding what to do and see in Japan depends on how much time you have. Just a gentle reminder; Do not CRAM your itinerary. Also, Tokyo Tower displays special light-up for New Year’s Eve and New Year’s day annually, so it’s been a popular countdown spot in the city.
- Visit the temples and Shinto shrines
- Have a bowl of the Popular Ichiran Ramen
- Visit the one and only DisneySea in the world
Also known as “Formosa” which means the beautiful island by the Portuguese sailors back in the 1500s,. Taiwan has many national parks and incredible sceneries that makes it one of the best destinations for you to travel at the end of the year to escape from the all-year summer Singapore. (It’s not extremely cold at the end of the year as well.) If you happen to be there on the last few days of the year, there will be several countdown concerts held in Taiwan in different cities and county so do not miss it!
Enjoy Taiwan with:
Alishan National Scenic Area
Lavender Cottage @ Xinshe, Taichung
Climb the Elephant Mountain and See Taipei 101 from afar
4. Bangkok, Thailand
Spend a short weekend in Bangkok. It is one of Singaporeans’ favourite destination all-year-long as the food is excellent and shopping is incredibly cheap and trendy.
- Eat street food
- Visit Buddhist Temples
- Do some shopping at popular night markets or fashion malls
5. Hong Kong, China
Best known as a shoppers’ paradise by Hong Kong‘s Tourism Board, but I think there is much more to Hong Kong than shopping. Probably a place more suitable for DimSum Lovers and Party Goers.
- Night Life
Lan Kwai Fong
Lan Kwai Fong is one of Hong Kong’s most popular nightlife hotspots and home to over 90 restaurants and bars. The atmosphere ranges from stylish wine pairings to raucous jelly shots and the food on offer is as diverse as the clientele. Back in the 1870s, Lan Kwai Fong began its urban life as an area of prostitution then it started to get popular with hawkers and street traders.
You need a break from the hectic work life. Unplug yourself from the pushes and pulls of technology. You NEED to leave your work behind you, let off some steam and have a good time on holiday. Not just that, don’t you think you need to spend some quality time with your loved ones? I am not talking about just the weekends, it means the actual fun time and not sitting down in front of the tv with your phone or iPad in your hand but talk without all the distractions.
Give yourself a reward, after a long year of hard work.
What are you waiting for? It’s time to go on your holiday
