TOP Secondary Schools in Singapore for 2019, and everything else you might need to know about the application process.

As we near the end of the June holidays, parents and their kids alike would most likely be ramping up on their PSLE exam preparation, with the first written paper to be set on the 26th September.

With about just a mere 2 months to go, have you and your child decided on which secondary school he/she would aim to enter?

If you haven’t, fret not, as we will be going through the ranking of all the Secondary Schools in Singapore, based on each school’s 2018 PSLE cut-off scores. Do be aware that the PSLE system will be scrapped from 2021 onwards, and will be replaced with a grading system that follows the O and A Levels.

Before we delve into the scores, here are some important dates and other key pointers that you and your child should take note off:

Important Dates

  • The 2019 PSLE results will be released tentatively between 21 November 2019 and 25 November 2019 (both dates inclusive).
  • Your child will receive a personalised S1 Option Form and Eligibility Letter along with their PSLE results.
  • Discuss secondary school options with your child. The courses and schools available to your child will depend on their PSLE results. Then, complete the S1 Option Form.
  • Submit your child’s choices, either through our Internet System (within 7 calendar days) or in person at your child’s primary school (within 5 working days).
  • The 2019 S1 posting results will be released tentatively on 20, 23 or 24 December 2019.

How does Secondary 1 posting work?

Students are posted to secondary schools based on merit. This means that students with a higher PSLE score will be posted to their school of choice first before another student with a lower PSLE score does. Vacancies are filled up by students with higher PSLE scores first.
Assuming a student’s school choices are as follows
1st Choice: School A
2nd Choice: School B
3rd Choice: School C
4th Choice: School D
5th Choice: School E
6th Choice: School F
Step 1

The student will be considered for their 1st Choice (School A). If there are other students with higher PSLE scores, they will be posted before her. If there are still empty slots in School A, she will be posted there.

Step 2

If there are no more vacancies in her First Choice, she will be considered for the next school based on her order of choices (B, C, D, E and F) until she is posted to a Secondary School with vacancies.

Step 3

If all vacancies in the student’s 6 choices are filled, they will be posted to a school near their residence which has vacancies.
