Batam is one of the top choices for Singaporean to have a short getaway over the weekends, and one of the most popular choices is 5-star Montigo Resort.
An incident just happened yesterday (Thursday, 7.11.2019) at the very instagrammable spot of the resort, their famous Instagram Wooden Bridge.
Wooden bridge collapsed due to decay of it’s foundation.
Around 18 Singaporean tourists were injured when the wooden bridge collapsed and it’s possibly due to decay of the bridge’s foundations, as reported by Detik.com.
As we can see from the above picture, it is a beautiful spot to take photos or even standing there with your travel partner just to enjoy the breathtaking sunset scenery.
More than 20 tourists were on the bridge.
5 out of 18 of Singaporean received minor treatments while 13 of them were temporarily warded in Bhayangkara Hospital.
The below picture shows the popular bridge has collapsed, people are trying to help each other out of this tragic incident.
The bridge is made up of wood and may rot after years of contact with seawater.
Safety comes first
The management of Montigo Resort Batam would be more aware of their facilities maintenance and fully co-operates with the police to prevent a similar accident in future.
We would update on this incident as it progresses, and hope for a better safety upgrade to the existing 5-star resort by Montigo Batam.
